After you have completed your internship or if you are experienced, please use the following form to evaluate where you stand on Newborn Care issues.

This will give us an idea of how we can best be of service to you and where we need to improve the classes and teaching. This will not affect your certification. This is for our information.

Please read through each item and take a moment to put yourself in that situation to give yourself as well as us an honest evaluation. We expect to see a range of numbers in your responses, and answering with low numbers does not keep you from getting certified.

Because the care of the newborn is critically important to the families, we have strong obligations to be trustworthy, provide high quality education, protect the client's privacy and adhere to a standard of practice higher than is expect of other caregivers. We agree to:

1.Provide the highest level of service that is appropriate and useful for each of our clients, always being courteous, respectful, unbiased and professional.

2. Acknowledge the importance of the educating the parents and encouraging them in the development and uniqueness of their newborn.

3. To provide the parents with industry – standard information and resources with the goal of equipping them for future references.

4. To build partnerships with each other, based on mutual trust and respect and to acknowledge the rights and dignity of our colleagues and any other professional unit.

5. To always take care to speak only the truth in any given situation.

6. Not allow our personal beliefs or convictions to interfere with fair representation of information or resources.

7. To strive to expand our own knowledge but using continuing education along with maintaining and enhancing our skills.

8. To remember ours is a service oriented industry and to continue to provide quality care to our newborns and their families.

9. To cooperatively work with parents and deliver the kind of service promised to them.

10. To certify only qualified NCS's who are dedicated to the health and welfare of the newborn and their families.
